What's New for the 2025 Toyota Tacoma SR5?
The midsize Toyota Tacoma pickup truck launched its fourth generation in 2024. At that time, it ushered in exciting improvements to its design, features, and performance abilities. With significant updates made only a year ago, the 2025 Tacoma has only a few minor improvements. The Tacomaās trim lineup continues to hold steady. Its trims include the SR, SR5, TRD PreRunner, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, Limited, TRD Pro, and Trailhunter. As a more affordable option with a few upgrades over the base trim level, the Tacoma SR5 is popular among todayās truck buyers.
The updates to the Tacoma SR5 elevate performance in notable ways. This trim level adds tow hooks to enhance its functionality in rugged situations. In addition, the amperage for the auxiliary switches is increased from 65 amps to 95 amps.
The Tacomaās new look that debuted last year gives the truck a modernized, beefy stance. The sides are chiseled with rigid definition, rounding over the wheel wells and lower door panels. The fenders are squared off, and this corresponds with the sharply angled air inlets on the nose. The front end is tall with a wide grille that tapers to sharp points on the sides. The bumper is molded and holds linear foglights. The LED headlights run horizontally and are pointed on both ends. The SR5 trim also has 17-inch wheels, a composite cargo bed, a Class IV trailer hitch receiver, bed rails, and tie-down cleats.
The 2025 Tacoma SR5 is equipped with a four-cylinder, turbocharged 2.4-liter engine. With an eight-speed auto transmission, this system delivers 278 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. With a six-speed manual transmission, you can enjoy 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. If you choose the crew cab layout, the SR5 also comes with a coil-spring rear suspension system.
You will be comfortable and protected in the Tacoma SR5. Its features include a rear cross-traffic warning, a blind-spot warning, keyless entry, lane centering, lane departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control, forward collision mitigation, an 8-inch touchscreen display, and wireless connections for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

1. Payload includes the weight of occupants, cargo and options and is limited by weight distribution.
2. Never tow beyond a vehicle's published towing capacities. Before towing, confirm your vehicle and trailer are compatible, hooked up and loaded properly and that you have any necessary additional equipment. The maximum you can tow depends on base curb weight plus the total weight of any cargo, occupants, and added vehicle equipment. Follow all instructions in your Owner's Manual.
